OpenAI's controversial voice feature has been delayed, provoking a backlash on carding forums.

OpenAI, the company that develops ChatGPT's artificial intelligence, pushed back the release of its Voice Mode on Wednesday. This prominent upcoming feature caused a stir when it was demonstrated at the company's product update last month. The company stated that it needs to work on it for "one more month," and the announcement has drawn harsh criticism from AI community members and users.

Its Voice Mode, which came along with the release of its most recent large-language model, ChatGPT-40, was perhaps the most compelling announcement made at the OpenAI event. It made it possible for users to speak into the chatbot and have a conversation that sounded more human.

The demonstration also drew comparisons to the science fiction film "Her," which starred Scarlett Johansson as a virtual companion. OpenAI quickly announced that it would be removing the voice from its library after Johansson threatened legal action over the voice's similar sound.

OpenAI stated that it was unable to advance the feature in the planned limited "alpha" release in June due to additional work.

AD explained, "We're improving the model's ability to detect and reject certain content." We are also working on making the user experience better and getting our infrastructure ready to handle millions of users while still providing responses in real time.

OpenAI's announcement quickly met with a wave of disdain from the AI community because users didn't like what they read.

OpenAI's track record of overpromising and underdelivering was quickly pointed out by many critics, who compared it to that of its rivals. Be like Anthropic," Ashutosh Shrivastava, an AI enthusiast, wrote in a tweet. They don't demonstrate, create buzz, and then disappear for three to four months.

Matt Wolfe, an AI YouTuber, asserted that the delay is a component of OpenAI's business strategy.

He said, referring to the move as the "Sora Treatment," "Show off something exciting to demonstrate how far ahead of everyone else you are and then never actually let people use it." Another OpenAI product that has received a lot of praise but is still not widely available is thegenerative video tool Sora.

FinalFrame AI creator Benjamin De Kraker expressed his dissatisfaction, claiming that OpenAI promotes certain features that are later abandoned due to lack of interest or use.

He tweeted, "Plugins died, GPT Store died, Voice is slow, Memory is average," and "Core model and API are solid, but all the "this changes how people use AI!"" The hype has failed.
